Potato volunteers and their management. Por K. Davies, F. Milne y A. Golden. The Scottish Agricultural College, SCA. 2000.
The volunteer potato is an important problem to farmers growing potatoes, particularly for seed
tubers, and can be a nuisance weed in many other crops. Volunteer potatoes arise from tubers,
often called groundkeepers, or from true seed. Their control is very difficult and relies on a
combination of careful harvesting, further cultural and husbandry techniques, and of herbicide
treatment when possible. This note considers the best practices for improved management of the
volunteer potato problem.
