July 23, 2003: It has been announced recently that the First International Root and Tuber Symposium will be held from 9 - 12 February, 2004, in Palmerston North, New Zealand. According to Robyn Craig, a member of the organizing committee, the committee expects international key note speakers to this symposium which will cover various topics on potatoes, sweetpotato, carrots and novel tuber crops. The Symposium will be convened under the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS): Root and Tuber Crops Section. The language of the symposium will be English and the proceedings will be published as a volume of Acta Horticulturae. The organizing committee envisages offering two symposium tours within New Zealand's North Island. A pre-symposium tour will encompass aspects of potato and carrot production in the lower North Island, while including areas of cultural and geothermal interest in the Rotorua region. A post-conference tour will extend from Auckland city into scenic Northland, demonstrating aspects of sweetpotato production. Please follow the link below to the Symposium web site. This page will progressively be updated as speakers, programmes etc. are confirmed. Noticia tomada de la Global Potato News - http://www.potatonews.com/ IP: Archivada |
